So I want to get one thing straight right from the getgo.
I am
NOT a Personal Trainer. Or a Fitness Coach. Or a Bootcamp Instructor.
I don’t train anyone and I don’t know the fastest way to melt 40 lbs of fat or the latest “superfood” fad.
If you’re here under the impression that Im running multiple fitness businesses and that’s my main stream of income then you should click away right now as you’re only going to be disappointed.
I’m pretty different from most of the other Fitness Marketers out there
and Im not going to try and compete with them on stuff like client-getting strategies (I mean how could you beat Steve Hochman’s Human Billboard Strategy? And if anyones sat there saying ‘Well that would never work in my local area’ then get off my blog right now – you’re a tire kicker and Im not interested in you. Seriously..)
So I leave that stuff to the big boys really – they’re great at it.
But I am pretty awesome at 2 things and they’ve gotten me a helluva lot of attention in the Fitness Industry in the last 6 months.
- Inspiring the Fitness Industry to understand their TRUE VALUE and give them the confidence to charge appropriately for their lifechanging work
- Helping Fit Pros discover and promote their own unique Personal Brand that turns them into a Fitness ROCKSTAR who attracts media attention, effortlessly attracts clients and has the power to reach MILLIONS of people worldwide not just the people in their local area.

But things weren’t always so rosy. So about a million years ago I started out as a broke Product Design student (don’t ask – bad decision) trying to figure out a way to make money to fund my student lifestyle (party, party and err… party). I was pretty fit and liked dance and stuff so I took a Fitness Qualification and started teaching fitness classes in my local area.
I loved it and soon was teaching all over the place – I was on someone else’s payroll getting paid a flat rate per hour but at the time it worked for me and I had no idea I could even set up my own classes. I started training people one on one aswell and I realised I was way better at getting people motivated to get fit and toned than designing stuff.
So I dropped out of University in my final year and focused on fitness instead. With only a few basic qualifications I had become a bit of a local fitness celebrity because I brought the ENERGY to every fitness session. That was my USP – energy, good times, everyone leaves laughing and buzzing no matter what.
In 2004 I was awarded the New UK Fitness Presenter of the Year and started touring the country delivering group fitness sessions to bigger and bigger crowds with more and more energy. I was headhunted to become Fitness Manager at Europe’s 2nd largest members gym and by 2007 was earning pretty good money. In 4 years I had climbed right to the top of the UK Fitness Industry with nothing more than a few qualifications, a big smile and insane energy.
But here’s what was really going on and was about to lead to a major dark period in my life….
- I was living off sugar and getting fat – the constant teaching and travelling was exhausting and I became hooked on sugar fixes to give me the high I needed to deliver an energy packed session.
- I was working a 55 hour week in my Monday -Friday job and then another 15 hours at the weekend presenting Group Training sessions – I was right on the edge of emotional and physical burn out
- The energy I brought to each session was getting less and less – and my USP was ENERGY! So without this I lost my edge and was losing my appeal
- I had was in front of 2000 people a month but had no idea how to leverage that – I had no mailing list, no continuity program – nothing. I sold a few crappy fitness DVDs that I got less than 50% of the profit from – that was it.
- The only way I could figure out how to make more money was to work more hours which sucked my energy even more
- I began to resent the fitness industry, I resented all my clients and lost my love for motivating people.

- Finally I popped. My back blew out and my teaching career was over. I could barely stand for 20 minutes let alone train anyone.
So my body is busted, I’ve got no job, no money, I’m thoroughly out of love with the fitness industry, stressed to my eyeballs and have no idea how to make money to meet the rent next month.
I knew I had to make some serious changes if I was going to start living the life I deserved.
My income couldn’t depend on me being physically fit or working all hours under the sun. There had to be another way.
Over the next 12 months I spent every second I had studying business strategies, marketing techniques, time freedom techniques, visualisation, money mindset and belief systems. I forced myself under the wing of every successful entrepreneur I could find and got myself into £11,367 of debt buying courses on how to trade the stock market, affiliate marketing, running webinars, business models, social media marketing, personal branding and joint venturing. I knew I had to keep going or I was going to be broke and forced into some dead end job.
At one point I had rented out every room in my house and the sofa (I was sleeping on the floor in the kitchen) just to afford to eat. I sold my car, my TV, everything – just to keep going.
It was amazing learning all this stuff but I couldn’t help but feel frustrated – if only I had known all of this stuff when I was in the Fitness Business! I could have been making a 6 figure income running my own business with a mailing list of over 10,000 people in less than 6 months!
I still wasn’t able to train anyone else because my back was still messed up but I thought if I could show other Fit Pros and Personal Trainers how they could apply all this stuff to their Fitness Businesses then that would be awesome. I could help them before they got to burn out stage like I did and wound up totally broke.
I applied everything I’d learnt about personal branding and social media marketing to myself and created Rockstar Fitness Marketing to let everyone know what I was doing and how I could help them with their Fitness Marketing and their Fitness Business.
Within 4 weeks I was joint venturing with the biggest names in the UK Fitness Industry and delivering business, social media and personal branding information to Fit Pros all over the UK.
It went like crazy. There was such a need for this as most Fit Pros are great people but useless at business and marketing. And especially bad at knowing how to price their services appropriately and communicate their true value to their prospects through their brand.
I now spend 13 hours a week running a business that brings me more money than I was making working a 70 hour/7 day a week job

I get to help hundreds of Fit Pros to realise their true value, establish a strong personal brand via social media and make way more money in their fitness business.
